Arrival, Stay and Departure Instructions

Your Maui vacation is just around the corner!  The following are your arrival, stay and departure instructions for Pineapple Place (Kamaole Sands 7-102). 

Arrival

Check in time is 3:00 p.m. or later.  If you did not arrange for early check in at the time of booking it is difficult to grant it on arrival day because we often have back to back rentals leaving little time to prepare for your arrival.  

Upon arrival to the Kamaole Sands Resort you are required to check in at the front desk. Advise the front desk staff you are checking into unit 7-102, booked directly with Gary and Keren Yowell.

The front desk will collect the required $35.00 (plus tax) Resort Fee upon check-in. The Resort Fee includes:Daily Maui Newspaper (pick up at the pool); free local and 800 calls (with $50 deposit); use of pool, gym and tennis courts; parking passes and gate keys; and Wednesday Mai Tai Party at the pool from 3-5 p.m.  The Resort Fee is subject to change at any time, without notice, and the owner has no control of the amount collected.

The front desk staff will provide your pool code, gate card, parking pass for space # 168, and a map of the property.

NOTE:  No keys will be issued by the front desk as we have a key-less entry door lock on the front door.  You were provided the key-less access code in the email which contained the link to these instructions.  The front desk staff will not know the access code assigned to you; that information can only be obtained from the owner.  The door code is programmed for each guest.  

When entering our front door, enter the 4 digit code and open the door.  It automatically re-locks.  Please verify the door is locked when you exit the unit.  Do not share the entry code with anyone, for any reason.  Additionally, you will see two devices labeled “do not unplug”:  one located on the entertainment center, and the other at the electrical outlet by the sofa.  It’s important you do not unplug these devices or communication with the door lock will disconnect and may interfere with the door lock causing you to be locked out.

We find it easiest to unload luggage and groceries at the front of Building 7 and then proceed to parking space # 168, which is located in front of Building 6.  Parking assignments are enforced and if during your stay someone has parked in space #168, contact the front desk to advise and ask for parking guidance.

HOUSEKEEPING, MAINTENANCE AND SUPPLIES

For your convenience, we maintain an “on island” contact for the housekeeping and maintenance needs of our Maui home.  Mrs. Edy Daniels of Maui Vacation Rental Support is our “on island” contact and she can be reached by call or text at (808) 280-6453.  Maui Vacation Rental Support will ensure our unit is clean, sanitized and ready for your arrival.

For your use, we provide at least the following linens, one set of sheets for each bed, 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 wash clothes, 1 dish towel and 1 sponge.  Note:  If you will be using the sofa sleeper, the linens and blanket are stored in the master bedroom dresser in the left cupboard.  If you have an evening flight arrival, if you contact us with a few days notice we can request housekeeping to set the sofa sleeper to the sleeping position.  On a daily basis, please remove the blanket before returning to the sofa position or damage will occur for which you will be held responsible.

Additionally, we provide the following “starter supplies”: 1 paper towel roll, kitchen hand soap, 7 dishwasher detergent pods, 8 kitchen garbage bags, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 8 bathroom wastebasket liners per bathroom, bath hand soap, shampoo and conditioner and 1 starter box of laundry soap.  Additional kitchen and bath supplies are guest’s responsibility.

DURING YOUR STAY

We hope you will feel at home at our happy Pineapple Place.  Please care for our home well so that we may continue to share it.  We understand that accidents happen and we ask that if you or your guests cause damage to the condo or its contents (i.e. carpet stain, broken windows, stained towels, lost towels, etc.) that you contact us or Maui Vacation Rental Support ASAP so that repair/cleaning can happen quickly during your stay  so the next guest will not be inconvenienced.  Thank you in advance for respecting this policy.

We share with our guest beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, ice chests, and beach toys.  We do ask that you care for these items in a shared manner as they are not maintained by housekeeping.  If you use them we ask that when you returned them they have been rinsed of sand and salt water and allowed to dry before storage to prevent mold which can be an issue in Maui's humid climate. Please follow the directions posted in our share closet.  The items are located in the following locations:

Beach Towels - Two are stored in the master bedroom in the left cupboard of the mirrored dresser.  If you have more than two guests there are an additional two towels stored in a plastic bin above the washer and dryer.  

Beach Gear - On the refrigerator you will find a key to our "Borrow Closet" located on the lanai.  This is where you will find the beach chairs, umbrella and beach toys.  

Ice Chests - Two ice chests are stored in the kitchen pantry.  One larger ice chest in stored in the Lanai Borrow Closet.

Prior to using the air conditioners please ensure all windows and doors are closed and close the doors to the bathroom and laundry; by doing so the unit will cool faster. When exiting the unit please turn off the air conditioners and ceiling fans.  We also ask that you not run both air conditioners at the same time unless absolutely necessary.  Maui electricity costs are three to four times greater than the mainland depending on the time of use and we appreciate your help in keeping our daily rental rates down by conserving energy where possible.  The ceiling fans are a great source of air movement; as well as the cool trade-winds.  Please try to take advantages of the trades when they come up.  Please be comfortable!

Basic cable and Wi-Fi Internet is provided for you at no additional charge.  We also have two SMART TVS where you can sign on to your own streaming accounts like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.  

The Wi-Fi Internet requires the use of a network name and password on your device(s).  Below are the network name and password:

Hawaiian custom asks you to please leave your slippers (shoes) at the door; we would appreciate your “kokua” (help) in following the local traditions.  It's a relevant part of the travel experience.  

Please do not apply aerosol sunscreens in the unit as they leave an oily film on the flooring, walls and furnishings.  As well, we recently learned from others owners of permanent damage to tile from a compound in the spray sunscreens.

Upon return from the beach please use one of the outdoor showers located throughout the resort to rinse off the sand and sunscreens before entering the condo.

Please do not take the bath towels to the beach or pool.  We share beach towels for your use.  

Please no wet clothing or wet towels on the furniture.

Our housekeeper completes a detailed inventory of our condo upon each guest’s departure. If you take any items from the condo (i.e. silverware, dishes etc.) for communal meals at the BBQ pavilions or elsewhere please ensure they are returned to the unit for the next guest's use. You are responsible for the contents of the unit based on the inventory taken prior to your arrival.  Please note that the condos are individually owned and operated and there is no way to retrieve our inventory from other units.

DEPARTURE

Check out time is 11:00 a.m  If you did not arrange for late check out at the time of booking it is difficult to grant it at departure day because we often have back to back rentals leaving little time to prepare for our next guest.

The following are expected prior to departure:

  • Launder and re-store borrowed beach towels;
  • Start in the washer either the bed sheets or the bath and kitchen towels (housekeeping will finish)
  • Borrowed beach gear from the pantry or lanai “borrow closet” shall be brushed off or rinsed of sand/salt water and neatly re-stored.If rinsed, ensure gear has proper time to dry before re-storing to avoid mold in humid climate.
  • From the refrigerator, cabinets and counter-tops, remove the following items to the garbage room:
    • Leftover and takeout food containers
    • Remove food from washable storage containers
    • Throw away perishable food and beverages
  • Load dirty dishes into dishwasher, add dishwasher detergent and start; housekeeping will put the clean dishes away.
  • All TV remote controls should be left in plain sight by the respective TV;
  • Master bedroom A/C remote control should be placed on top of the unit in storage spot;
  • Sweep/vacuum excessive sand brought into the unit via beach towels, clothing, shoes, beach toys etc.
  • Rented baby furniture must be picked up by the rental company prior to your departure;
  • Ensure both air conditioners are turned off;
  • Turn off any floor fans;
  • Ensure both ceiling fans are turned off;
  • Ensure lanai “Borrow Closet” is locked (left door pin at inside top is in place and right door is locked);
  • Return lanai “Borrow Closet” key to the refrigerator hook;
  • Close all windows and pull draperies; 
  • Turn off all Lights; and 
  • Lock all doors

Your security deposit will be processed once we have the housekeeper’s departure cleaning and inventory report.  This typically occurs no later than 10 days after your departure.  From the date of processing it can take 7-10 days to appear on your credit card statement.

If you are interested in reserving your dates for next year’s trip please let us know so we can provide a quote and secure your dates.  Depending on the timing of your request we can even roll your refundable deposit to your next reservation.
